From the moment we got in the Grab, Linda was a wealth of knowledge, and we knew we were in for a customized our tour in Chinatown by making sure we got to the Chinese Temple before it closed. Then we were off to try Anthony Bourdain’s pick for best Hainan Chicken Rice and some Michelin-rated popia and were led through the underground, Little India, and Kampong Glam with ease and provided with engaging historical context and narratives that made our 24 hours in Singapore the best they could even spent extra time with us showing us some amazing architecture at night and ensuring we had an original Singapore Sling at Raffles Hotel Long husband and I both highly recommend taking this tour with Linda. His knowledge and familiarity with the local vendors made the visit a unique experience. We tasted local cuisine at hawker centers in little India and in Chinatown. Seeing the mosque in the Malay neighborhood and the temple in Chinatown was just amazing. As part of the tour, we used public transportation just as regular Singaporeans . At the end, we felt that we actually got to know the city and its citizens well. Although wasn’t a huge fan of how the guide served up the Satay at La Pa Sat and two small sticks each was barely a taster. Also not convinced they chose the best place for us to view the light show but hey it was what it was and the light show was quite spectacular. The most disappointing thing was the guide towards the end of the trip started begging for tips and pretty giving everyone a lecture on good karma. Tripadvisor performs checks on sail! We leisurely sailed/cruised for 3 hours around the southern islands and the coast of Sentosa and southern mainland Singapore. We even got a great look at Marina Bay Sands and the Ferris wheel from the water. It’s cool to be on the water moving past and around those huge freighters! Staff was efficient and accommodating. The catamaran was clean and well kept. The Marina was easy to get to and very nice. There is a 7-11 a few minutes walk from waiting area if you need snacks or anything. It was a very relaxing and peaceful evening…. Tripadvisor performs checks on met our ‘with locals’ tour guide at a local cafe just near the Marina Bay Sands hotel where we were staying. Upon meeting Eliza she abounded with enthusiasm about our next four hours together. Her demeanor was warm and inviting as if she was meeting old friends in for a holiday. She mapped out a route that included local historical sites, food hoker markets and museums. Her knowledge about her home country was astute as she answered all of our questions with the skill and precision of a rock climber scaling the face of a mountain. As we went all over the city to each site she was met with smiles and hospitality by each establishment, the sign of a great host well liked by her peers. She ushered us through Singapore’s underground transportation with ease, never skipping a beat and what an amazing system they have! At the end of our tour she was kind and gracious, having taken the time to walk us back to our hotel. She offered a hug upon our goodbyes and we gladly obliged for after just four hours with Eliza, she had enchanted us and we left feeling we would certainly see her again. We highly recommend booking her. You won’t be disappointed. PS bring a small hand towel, the humidity is a killer! He taught us a lot about Singapore and the transitions that it has gone through over the past 40 years it wasn’t just a tour guide about locations, but it was also about the culture and the way that the people feel and live now, in such a different country compared to other Asian countries. I had such a great time that we ended up taking him for dinner.
